STEPHANIE HUANG

STEPHANIE’S STYLE IN ONE WORD: Multifaceted! I know, I know, it’s really such a vague word, but I change on a day-to-day basis. I believe that many aren’t defined by a particular style, but rather, by the way they put things together. There are some days when I want to grunge it up, others when I’m piling on the vintage, and others when I just want a clean, minimalist silhouette.

INSPIRATION: Everything, really! I am inspired by colors, places, people (bloggers, off-duty models, Alexa Chung), and even pieces of clothing themselves. If I see something that stops me, and I know what I can pair with it - that’s definitely something that makes fashion effortless. Other times, I just want to embody the vibe of a particular city. That’s what I love about fashion, it’s universal and ever-changing.

WHAT DECADE DO YOU BELIEVE HAS THE BEST FASHION? Ugh. I can’t choose! I really love Ella Fitzgerald from the ’20s, and the whole drop-waist flapper deal, but if I had to choose, I would say the ’60s. I love Twiggy and I love the Beatles - even the make-up of the decade was more fashion-driven rather than beauty-driven. I love the hair, the a-line and high-neck shifts, and the bright colors! It was just a time that seemed like pure fun.

FAVORITE TREND AT THE MOMENT: I would definitely have to say pastels. I love mint (it has always been a favorite color of mine, but right now, even more!) at the moment, and pairing it with some blush or lilac would make for some perfect pastel heaven. Louis Vuitton’s spring ‘12 collection was especially vulnerable but striking at the same time! I’m such a girl’s girl. I was speechless when I saw Zara’s mint palazzo pleated chiffon pants - too bad they cost more than $100.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO WEARING THE MOST THIS SPRING? Other than pastel color-blocking, I really am loving mixed prints. Seeing the recent onset of floral on floral and other mixing and matching has me looking forward towards Spring. I’m so excited - I feel like print-on-print is very intriguing, and it tells a story. I also adore printed denim!

IF YOU WERE A BOY… WHAT WOULD YOU WEAR THE MOST? Probably linen/chambray button-downs? I really love how they look paired with a tailored short and boat shoes/oxfords on guys, especially in the spring and summer by the beach! I think that they make guys look much more attractive.

WHAT IS ONE INTERESTING FACT ABOUT YOU THAT YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE? love oil-painting and ballet!
